Proteostasis UK Network Manager (Signalling)

The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences to enhance lives and improve wellbeing.

We are seeking a creative, motivated, proactive Proteostasis UK Network Manager with excellent organisational skills to coordinate the day-to-day operations of a recently awarded BBSRC Network Grant to the newly established Proteostasis UK Network, whose aims are to bring together the proteostasis community in the UK, uniting researchers across the fields of protein folding, quality control, aggregation, and degradation through collaboration and sharing of resources, expertise, and trainees to tackle questions in fundamental biology and societal challenges such as healthy ageing and food security.

Working closely with the Network’s Steering Committee and Scientific Advisory Board, the role holder will support the Network’s strategy and activities and manage funds to promote community building via organisation of training workshops, pump-priming projects and lab exchanges, annual symposia, dissemination of outputs, newsletter, website, and social media. All of these responsibilities will be critical to the success of Proteostasis UK’s goals to understand proteostasis and translate that understanding for societal benefit.

Candidates must have a PhD in an area of biology/chemistry relevant to the field of proteostasis. Previous experience in establishing or leading science committees/networks/societies and communications is highly desirable. Strong IT skills are also essential to this role. Experience in developing and reviewing administrative processes and systems is also essential.

The post holder will be interacting with academics and postdoctoral researchers, postgraduate students, and industry colleagues, and therefore, the successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, and have a positive, flexible, can-do attitude.

The post is a full-time role and will be based at the Babraham Institute in Cambridge. The Institute supports flexible working so remote working for up to 2 days per week would be considered. Informal enquiries can be made to ukproteostasis@babraham.ac.uk.

Funding for this position is initially available for three years. A full job specification and role requirements can be found attached to this vacancy.

Closing date for applications is Sunday, 28th September 2025.
