Location: De Havilland Campus, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield

As the Symposium enters into its fourth year, the School is looking for an individual who will act as a project lead in supporting the various activities that run alongside the annual event, working with colleagues in the University and from the community, demonstrating a keen appreciation for the University’s business-facing strategy.

Main duties & responsibilities

The successful candidate will support the School in hosting its annual Drugs and Alcohol Symposium, working collaboratively with colleagues and partner organisations to support the wider research and enterprise work generated through the Symposium.

They will be responsible for supporting the School in identifying and creating opportunities for funding to maximise the wider economic and social impact of the project activities, capturing relevant evidence to support impact and engaging with external partners and stakeholders as appropriate.

Skills and experience required

Experience of working in multidisciplinary/multi-agency teams to develop research/enterprise projects is essential. You will also have experience of building and sustaining collaborative partnerships with other HEIs or external partners.

You will have experience of submitting successful funding applications and presenting project findings to a variety of audiences at a regional/national level. You will also have wider experience of public engagement activity.

You will possess good IT skills, including the use of MS Office. You will be proficient in English and have the ability to negotiate with stakeholders, demonstrating excellent written and oral communication skills. You will have a highly developed sense of professionalism and awareness of the importance of managing sensitive material with strict confidentiality.

You will be able to act as a responsible team member and develop productive working relationships with other members of staff. You will also be able to act on your own initiative and deal with conflicting demands and priorities to meet deadlines.

A committed approach towards the work of the School within a business-facing University, and a commitment to the ongoing development of research and enterprise activities stemming from the work of the Symposium, will be evident from your application.

Qualifications required

You will hold a Bachelors degree (or equivalent). A Masters qualification or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field is desirable.
