Psychologist - 225413
Position Summary
The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus. This position has flexibility for the selected candidate to work 20-31 hours per week, 32-40 hours per week, 4 or 5 days per week, or 10 or 11 months out of the year, negotiable prior to start date.
The Psychologist works within Counseling & Psychological Services as a generalist to provide mental health services to students. The department is interdisciplinary and comprised of licensed psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed professional counselors. It also offers practicum training for WCU students enrolled in mental health master’s programs and hosts an APA Accredited Psychology Internship.
CAPS is part of the Health & Wellness Unit of the Student Affairs Division, which includes Campus Recreation & Wellness, Health Services, and Health & Wellness Education. Departments collaborate to address campus health needs and promote student involvement, health, and wellness.
Responsibilities include providing direct clinical services such as individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, psychological assessment, and outreach programming. The psychologist will also supervise doctoral interns and master’s level practicum students, and collaborate with student affairs departments and campus partners to address student mental health needs.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship. Successful candidates must have experience working in a university counseling center or with the college-aged population in an outpatient setting. They must have a completed doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology by August 1st, 2025, and be eligible for licensure as a Health Service Provider-Psychologist in North Carolina by September 1, 2025.
Preferred Qualifications
At least two years of experience providing clinical services in a counseling center. Additional expertise in areas such as trauma-informed care practices, culturally rooted counseling, trauma-specific interventions, eating concerns, or crisis management is highly desired. Candidates should demonstrate experience in providing culturally responsive services and training to master’s and doctoral level trainees.
