Salary: $2,075.12/CAH - $2,322.27/CAH
Most classes are between 3.625 to 5.25 CAH (including lab) and PT Faculty can potentially teach up to 10 CAH per semester.

The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a Part-Time Instructor, Computer Science for Las Positas College.

A desirable applicant will be capable of providing instruction in one or more of the following courses: Introduction to Computer Programming Concepts, Computing Fundamentals in C++, Data Structures and Algorithms in C++, Java Programming, Computer Organization and Assembly Language Programming, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, and additional CS courses as developed by the department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules;
• Create and maintain an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
• Meet with students outside of class periodically (office hours);
• Evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters;
• Grade students work;
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
• Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;
• Maintain accurate academic records.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters in computer science or computer engineering OR Bachelors in either of the above AND Masters in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting or engineering OR Bachelors in engineering AND Masters in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics or business administration OR Bachelors in mathematics AND Masters in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelors degree in any of the above AND a masters degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems OR the equivalent.

Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Ideal candidates will have community college experience or experience being the instructor of record in lower division courses.
