Job Summary

The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking Part-Time Instructors to add to the adjunct History pool and to teach for Fall Semester 2025 at Chabot College. The ideal candidate must have a passion for teaching and learning and a strong commitment to the missions and values of the community college.

The ideal candidate would be expected to provide instruction in at least one of the following areas:

1. HIS 25 - American Indian History
2. HIS 1 - History of Western Civilization to 1600
3. HIS 2 - History of Western Civilization Since 1600
4. HIS 3 - World History: Beginnings to 1500
5. HIS 4 - World History: 1500 to the Present

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Teach courses offered in the history curriculum, including American Indian History, Western Civilization, and/or World History;
2. Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours.

Minimum Qualifications

Masters in history OR Bachelors in history AND Masters in political science, humanities, geography, area studies, womens studies, social science or ethnic studies OR the equivalent.

Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Applicants applying under the “Equivalent” provision must provide details that explain at time of application how their academic preparation is the equivalent of the degree listed above.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Academic training and/or research interest in Native American Studies;
2. Knowledge or experience teaching Western Civilization or World History.
