Public Service Faculty - State Government Training
Position Summary
The Carl Vinson Institute of Government at The University of Georgia invites applications for a Public Service Faculty position in the Governmental Training, Education, and Development (GTED) Division. The position will be available December 1, 2025 and carries rank in the public service faculty career ladder of the University. Rank on hire will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience, according to Public Service and Outreach Appointment and Promotion Guidelines found here: Promotions – UGA Public Service and Outreach.
This position encompasses a broad range of duties and responsibilities primarily associated with conducting educational programs for government officials. These include needs assessment, program planning, lesson plan development, instructional delivery in a classroom setting, evaluation and assessment administration, retreat facilitation, organizational development, and providing consultation and technical assistance to government officials (and related boards and associations) at the state level. This position will:
- Develop text, visual aids, active learning exercises and examinations.
- Conduct finance and/or budget training workshops.
- Provide technical assistance, consultation, and other services to state and local governments.
- Write text and develop interactive exercises for online finance courses.
- Work with supervisor and the Institute evaluation team to assess program impact and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with faculty, professional staff, consultants, and others both within the Institute as well as other units of UGA Public Service and Outreach on projects and activities.
- Management and administration of training contracts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This is an administrative, non-tenured public service faculty appointment in the public service faculty career ladder at The University of Georgia.

Minimum Qualifications
A master’s degree in accounting, public administration, business administration or related field is required.
Additional Requirements
The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Public Service Assistant, Public Service Associate, or Senior Public Service Associate.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
- A terminal degree in accounting, public administration, business administration, education, or related field preferred.
- Five or more years of progressively responsible experience with the State of Georgia in finance, budget or a related area.
- Background working with Workday software.
- Background working with federal grants.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
The successful candidate should possess strong knowledge of State of Georgia budget and financial management processes, ability to work in a group, provide instruction effectively, and other skills as listed.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Provides training for state government officials and personnel, including developing and updating curriculum and lesson plans. Percentage Of Time: 70.
- Manages the Budget and Financial Management Certification Program. Percentage Of Time: 15.
- Provides consultation and technical assistance on projects related to state government. Percentage Of Time: 10.
- Collaborates with colleagues. Percentage Of Time: 5.
