Job Description

Teach radiologic technology and other related courses to a diverse student population. Subjects may include, and are not limited to, patient care, introduction to radiologic technology, radiographic positioning, special procedures, radiobiology and health physics, patient care, CPR, venipuncture, medical terminology, survey of disease, and healthcare law and ethics.

Acquire and maintain education and skills necessary for competency to teach any course in radiologic technology.

Teach assigned lecture and lab courses in the radiologic technology program in a manner consistent with the department’s standards, and with the content cited in the approved course outline and plan of instruction.

Teach, supervise, and evaluate students in theory.

Perform professional tasks related to the areas of assignment, particularly in student advisement, curriculum design and evaluation, program review, and other affairs of the department and division.

Remain current in the subject matter areas and in the techniques of effective instruction through recent clinical experience, professional development, and application of technology to education.

Participate in curriculum development and serve on department, division, college and district committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program; participate in appropriate professional development activities.

Participate in co-curricular activities, including planning, implementing, and teaching in special programs designed to support student success.

Participate in the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the Student Learning Outcomes assessment cycle.

Maintain formal office and campus hours; participate in department and division meetings.

Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to areas of assignment; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances (e.g., computer software applications) as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized and timely manner.

Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities; comply with district, college and division policies in the performance of duties.

Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methodologies and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions.

Develop culturally relevant course content, culturally responsive pedagogical techniques, and effective practices for engaging students who are diverse and/or are students who are historically underserved. The ideal candidate should have experience in this area with African American, Latinx, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders and other disproportionately impacted students.

Work cooperatively with staff and students.

Evening and/or weekend assignments may be required as part of the regular contract.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline AND two years of professional experience OR
Associate degree in any discipline AND six years of professional experience OR
Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area.

AND THE FOLLOWING:

Possess current and valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Radiography (ARRT)® license.

Possess a current and valid unlimited Certified Radiologic Technologist license (CRT) from the California Department of Public Health.

Possess a current and valid Fluoroscopic Radiologic Technologist license from the California Department of Public Health.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any subject area.
  • Teaching experience, preferably at the community college level.
  • Experience in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.
  • Experience using computers and technology in radiography education.
  • Knowledge of current innovative teaching methods that encourage student engagement and learning.
  • Experience working in a team-teaching environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and/or participation in community or professional organizations.
  • Commitment to examine, reflect, and modify instructional, relational, and classroom practices in order to effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with the goal of closing equity gaps.

Salary Range

$85,541 - $128,379 Annually
