Nature of Work: Chadron State College is seeking a Rangeland Management & Ecology faculty member who is interested in educating the next generation of land managers. The Rangeland Management Department is a collegial group who believe in creating hands-on and student-centered learning environments for our students to thrive. The Rangeland Management Department at Chadron State College is looking for a tenure track faculty member to join the department to teach elements of the core curriculum including introductory natural resources course, resource management planning, GIS, and inventory and analysis while also working to develop a program with an emphasis in wildland fire and forestry management.
The Rangeland Management Department offers a comprehensive degree in rangeland management. This position would educate a diverse group of students with interests in: land management, ecology, agriculture, and wildlife management.
Examples of Work Performed: General Summary: Responsible for providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College.
Essential Duties:
- Contribute to students' academic growth and development, which includes teaching, advising, and professional achievement.
- Teaching involves knowledge of the subject, maintaining competence, creating a conducive learning environment, organizing course content, and using appropriate methods.
- Advising students includes knowledge of policies, program planning, and career counseling.
- Professional achievement includes participation in academic organizations, scholarly presentations, and seeking external funding.
- Professional services include campus presentations, committee service, and community leadership.
Secondary Duties: Other duties as assigned by Dean.
Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Rangeland Management or related field. Terminal degree is required for tenure.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Rangeland Management, Forestry Management, or related field. Research and teaching experience in wildland fire, fire ecology, and/or forest management. Ability to apply technology for student learning.
License and Certification Requirements: None.
Other Requirements: Successful background records check.
Salary Information: Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Annual salary is approximately $45,710-$63,000.
