Job Description:
Serve as an advisor and consultant for a diverse portfolio of Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs), acting as a primary touchpoint for a subset of the Universitys 250+ RSOs. Provide guidance, education, and support on university policies, procedures, and best practices to promote RSO compliance, risk management, and organizational success.
Assist with the planning, implementation, and contracting of events and supply orders in support of both RSO activities and departmental programs. Contribute to the execution of large-scale University events including performances, speakers, and student organization programming by providing logistical, operational, financial, and administrative support. Coordinate marketing and promotional efforts in alignment with departmental standards and timelines.
Assist with RSO recognition, re-registration, and roster management processes, and support the delivery of officer, trainings, workshops, constitution development, and maintenance of RSO historical records within the Anthology platform (Cuse Activities). This position requires occasional evening and weekend work to support events and programs.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in education, communications, counseling, or related field required. Preferred experience in planning, implementing, and executing student events and programs.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to plan, implement, and execute a wide range of student organization events, including those requiring contract and financial management.
- Demonstrated, up-to-date knowledge of student affairs, student activities best practices, and a working understanding of student development and leadership development theories.
- Ability to effectively support and collaborate with a diverse student population.
- Experience in event marketing and promotional strategies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with a broad range of campus and community stakeholders.
- Prior experience as a student leader or advisor preferred.
Responsibilities:
Recognized Student Organization (RSO) Consulting:
- Serve as a consultant to a diverse portfolio of Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs), acting as the primary point of contact for a subset of the Universitys 250+ RSOs.
- Support student leaders in the planning and implementation of programs and events, including guidance on event logistics, budgeting, and risk management.
- Provide education on university and governing body policies and procedures to ensure compliance and organizational success.
- Manage approved funding requests, including contracting, purchasing, and expenditure tracking from the Student Activity Fee, to ensure responsible stewardship of funds supporting RSO programs and events.
- Support officer selection through elections training, leadership transition, and ongoing leadership development.
Marketing, Communications & Systems Management:
- Monitor and help ensure up-to-date records in the student organization management platform (Anthology/Cuse Activities), including rosters, online forms, registration workflows, and centralized information that promotes campus-wide involvement.
- Identify updates to the departmental web content, the RSO Handbook, and related publications and communications materials.
- Support the development and implementation of marketing and promotional strategies for RSO and departmental programs, including supervision and coordination of student graphic or marketing support when applicable.
RSO Conference & Travel Support:
- Advise RSOs on travel planning and logistics for conferences, competitions, and trips, ensuring compliance with university travel and purchasing policies.
- Ensure all trips are set up and managed through the Universitys travel registry, including submission of trip and traveler details, emergency contact information, and required waivers.
Ongoing Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities, including departmental and divisional meetings, trainings, retreats, and relevant workshops, to remain current on best practices in student engagement, leadership development, and university initiatives.
Recognized Student Organization (RSO) Registration Processes:
- Support in planning, marketing and implementing the new RSO recognition process and the annual re-registration process for all Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs).
- Support the design and implement mandatory officer trainings, workshops, and compliance with the Campus Labs platform.
