Duties
- Delivers online and in-person reference assistance;
- Develops, coordinates, and delivers online and in-person library instruction at all campus locations;
- Creates and maintains instructional materials, digital learning objects, and webpages to promote library services and resources;
- Encourages and maintains collaborative relationship with faculty and staff;
- Serves as a liaison between the library and academic divisions, campus partners, various database providers, VIVA (Virtual Library of Virginia), and VCCS (Virginia Community College System) libraries;
- Assists with collection development, including de-selection/weeding;
- Participates in community outreach and collaborates with regional libraries;
- Compiles and prepares statistics and reports as requested;
- Remains current with changing information delivery systems and library issues and trends, especially in information literacy;
- Provides general assistance with all areas of library operation as needed;
- Occasional evening and weekend hours;
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications (KSA's)
- Experience in conducting library instruction or teaching in an academic environment;
- Experience providing information services in an academic, public, or corporate library;
- Demonstrated success working independently with limited supervision;
- Experience and/or potential in developing and delivering effective literacy programs across the curriculum;
- Ability to work in a dynamic student environment and with a diverse student population;
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills;
- Outstanding organizational skills;
- A focus on student and program success;
- Experience working in an office environment;
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Office and Google applications;
Additional Considerations
- Experience in higher education, student services, or a related field;
- Experience in a community college setting;
- Experience using the Springshare platform or similar system;
- Experience in creating and maintaining online guides, tutorials, websites, and promotional materials;
