Plant Operations offers comprehensive services at The Rockefeller University, including a full range of building trades services. These services are responsible for routine maintenance, minor and major space alterations, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, HVAC, grounds maintenance, locksmith services, custodial services, moving, and setup services.

Overview

Working as part of the HVAC shop in Plant Operations, the Refrigeration Mechanic will troubleshoot and repair all types of refrigeration systems, including cold rooms, ice machines, DX units, domestic refrigerators, and freezers.

Responsibilities

The Refrigeration Mechanic will troubleshoot and repair all types of refrigeration systems, including cold rooms, ice machines, DX units, domestic refrigerators, and freezers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Troubleshooting refrigeration systems
• Charging refrigerant into units
• Brazing, soldering, and swaging refrigeration tubing
• Connecting gauges to systems to troubleshoot

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent, and Trade School Certification required
• Five (5) years of experience with electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC, and good mechanical and diagnostic skills
• Must be able to read electrical diagrams and schematics, solder and braze, and charge and reclaim refrigerant
• Must have good communication skills, motor coordination, and good dexterity.
• Must have an E.P.A. Universal Refrigerant handling permit.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certified on E.P.A. for Refrigerant handling (Preferred)

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the potential compensation range at the time of posting.
