Job Details

Regional Admissions Counselor

Department Summary

The Office of Admissions includes over 50 staff engaged in recruitment and outreach to prospective undergraduates. Admissions staff make admission decisions on all applicants for freshman, transfer, and post-baccalaureate undergraduate admission. Admissions is a unit of the Division of Student Services & Enrollment Management and works closely with several other units of that division, especially Scholarships/Financial Aid and Orientation, as well as many other parts of campus.

Position Summary

Representing the University of Oregon and the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management, regional admissions counselors serve as vital liaisons of the university in their respective regions. Regionals play a crucial role in connecting with and attracting prospective students to UO. They primarily work in the state/region they reside in, fostering relationships with local communities and educational institutions to identify and engage with prospective students and their families. Regionals work to build relationships with local high schools, community colleges, community-based organizations, youth organizations, and other local organizations that have a focus on secondary and post-secondary education. The goal is not only to recruit, but to provide students with confidence and knowledge, and build a college-going culture that exposes students to their options post-high school.
