Regional Program Manager Asia
Job Description:
The Regional Programs Manager oversees administration for the South Asia Center, the East Asia Program and the Central Asia and the Caucasus Initiative. He/she will oversee events, conferences, and outreach activities, participate in grant seeking and grant writing, curate content for newsletters, brochures, websites, posters, social media and outreach. They will be the hub for communications for the Asia Regional programs. The Regional Programs Manager will work with the Event Coordinator and other institute staff to execute the smooth administration of the Programs activities. This position will work with the Directors of three regional centers/programs to implement the vision and goals for the program. This position will provide continuity and momentum for the Asia regional programs.
This role will also add to the curriculum at the Maxwell School in the areas of Asia and political theory by being the instructor in courses such as PSC300: Politics of India, PSC 125: Introduction to Political Theory, Max 132 or related courses in the Department of Political Science. This role will teach 2 courses per academic year and is responsible for creation of course content, instruction, grading and working with the department on course planning.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of a masters degree in related area with in-depth knowledge of one or more region, South Asia, East Asia, Central Asia and the Caucasus, culture, religion, and history.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Initiative and leadership qualities.
- Team player.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Familiarity with a variety of social media platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Teach 2 courses per academic year in topics related to Asia, political theory, global affairs, etc. through the Max courses or Department of Political Science. Develop course materials including syllabi, lectures, activities, assessment.
- Participate in school and university wide trainings in pedagogy, teaching excellence.
- Work with Moynihan Director and Department chair to schedule courses that meet student demand and center needs.
- Oversee programming activities of the Asia regional centers/programs in concert with Director.
- Curate content and communications for the Asia regional centers/programs including newsletters, social media, brochures, websites, and promotional materials.
- Maintains and manages listserv.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationship with faculty and staff as a member of the Moynihan Institute team, the SU community and as the central contact and staff person for the Asia Regional Programs.
- Other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned.
