Registered Nurse Supervisor
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse Supervisor provides leadership and oversight of nursing staff and daily clinical operations within Student Health Services. This role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and supporting operational efficiency in collaboration with the Medical Director.
Typical Duties
- Supervises, mentors, and provides clinical guidance to nursing staff.
- Oversees patient/student care, including health histories, physical assessments, risk identification, and accurate electronic health record documentation.
- Ensures adherence to policies, procedures, standards of practice, and HIPAA regulations; assists in policy development and implementation.
- Oversees nursing competencies for all staff, ensuring completion upon hire and annual review in collaboration with the Medical Director.
- Manages nurse assignments, staff scheduling, recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training.
- Promotes continuous quality improvement and addresses patient and staff concerns.
- Develops and coordinates health education initiatives and supports interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Participates in budget planning and manages the unit within approved budget guidelines.
- Oversees ordering and inventory of medical supplies, medications, vaccines, and equipment, ensuring cost-effective purchasing.
- Provides oversight of the Quest Lab contract and laboratory processes under the direction of the Medical Director.
- Leads infection control oversight, including required quarterly and annual inspections.
Required Qualifications
- This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Nursing and two years of full-time experience related to the job functions.
- Professional, full-time clinical experience in a physician's office.
- Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Florida in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes, or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Section 210, Florida Administrative Code.
- Current American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in college health, health education and various clinical backgrounds.
- Experience with electronic health records.
- Supervisory experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
