RESEARCH AND OPERATIONS MANAGER, Economics, supports the mission of The Bike Shop by melding a passion for evidence-based economics and computer science research with solid administrative abilities. Under the supervision of Prof. Sendhil Mullainathan, the Research and Operations Manager serves as the operational and relational core of The Bike Shop, owning the lab’s financial, administrative, and compliance functions while cultivating and coordinating the institutional relationships —across MIT and the University of Chicago— that enable the lab to thrive. The role requires someone who is energized by the work of keeping a research enterprise running, and who brings the strategic and interpersonal sensibilities to do so across a complex multi-institutional environment.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: A Bachelor’s degree and coursework involving one or more of the following: management, human resources, social work, administration, accounting, finance, computer science, AI, economics, or psychology; a minimum of three years of work experience in research, administration, management, customer service, human resources, accounting or finance; preferably, two years of this experience is working within or closely alongside a research-generating institution, such as a college or university, government research body, or large medical or hospital setting in either a student or professional capacity; strong written and verbal skills; ability to build positive relationships and work within a team; and proven time management skills and attention to detail.
The Research and Operations Manager is a full-time, two-year appointment that is renewable for an additional year, contingent on funding, performance, and mutual agreement.
