Offer Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching students enrolled in the Stage Music and Art Education in the Field of Musical Arts degree programmes, in particular through:
- individual and group classes in voice production, vocal technique and interpretation of repertoire;
- preparing students for examinations, course assessments, concerts, stage performances, competitions and other artistic projects;
- selecting repertoire appropriate to the student’s level of advancement, vocal characteristics and intended artistic development;
- monitoring students’ progress and providing reliable and objective assessment of their achievements and competences;
- participating in examinations, auditions, consultations and the work of committees related to the educational process;
cooperating with other academic teachers and instructors in the implementation of the curriculum and in the preparation and delivery of artistic projects

Skills/Qualifications
A Master of Arts degree in the discipline of Musical Arts, with a specialisation in one of the following or a closely related field:
- popular music vocal performance;
- stage vocal performance;
- jazz and stage vocal performance;
- jazz and popular music vocal performance.
At least three years of documented teaching experience in vocal instruction, with particular emphasis on popular music vocal performance.
Documented artistic achievements in vocal performance and popular music, including in particular:
- concert activity;
- participation in artistic projects;
- participation in phonographic and/or audiovisual recordings.
Documented continuing professional development in the fields of popular music vocal performance, vocal techniques and/or vocal pedagogy, together with active artistic and/or artistic-research activity in the discipline of Musical Arts and a demonstrated commitment to further professional development.
Additional Competences and Expectations
The following competences and attributes will be considered an advantage:
- creativity and active engagement in the development of the teaching provision within the Stage Music and Art Education in the Field of Musical Arts degree programmes;
- willingness to work collaboratively and to participate in the University’s artistic projects;
- openness to and aptitude for further academic and artistic development;
- willingness to undertake and complete a doctoral dissertation in the discipline of Musical Arts.
As part of the selection procedure, candidates will be required to complete the following stages:
- Demonstration Lesson
The candidate will conduct a demonstration lesson in popular music vocal performance. The lesson will serve to assess the candidate's teaching methodology, knowledge and application of vocal techniques, communication skills and ability to work effectively with a student.
- Performance Recital
The candidate will prepare and perform a 15-minute recital demonstrating their artistic and technical proficiency in stage/popular music vocal performance.
- Interview
The candidate will participate in an interview concerning:
- previous teaching experience;
- artistic and professional achievements;
- methods of vocal training;
- knowledge and application of contemporary vocal techniques;
- the candidate's proposed approach to working with students enrolled in the Stage Music degree programme;
- plans for further artistic, academic and professional development.
