Job Posting Details
The Division of Life Science is seeking two skilled Virtual/Augmented Reality Education Game Developers to join our virtual reality project team. In this role, the appointees will have the opportunity to work with life science educators, game designers, programmers and artists to craft high-quality virtual reality education tools using the Unreal/Unity Engines. Job responsibilities:
- Create captivating virtual reality laboratory and classroom environments that effectively capture the real learning environments using Meta Quest 2 and 3 hardware.
- Develop high-quality 2D/3D characters/models of animal models (human, rat, fruit fly, frog) and lab techniques (dissection, gel electrophoresis, immunoblotting, etc.).
- Collaborate with our design team to conceptualise and produce storyboards for the games and other learning materials.
- Demonstrate strong artistic and creative graphic skills, exercise independent judgement and make aesthetic decisions.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends in animation and illustration techniques, and bring fresh ideas to our projects.
- Collaborate with other teams to design and facilitate integrated communication, implement project promotion and management.
- Conduct other ad-hoc activities as instructed by the Principal Investigators.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree or above in Multimedia Design/Creative/Interactive Media, or any related disciplines;
- Preferably 1-2 year(s) of experience in animation, digital marketing, communications, or advertising;
- Good communication in English;
- Knowledge of 2D/3D animation production; Portfolio is a MUST for application. Proven experience as an Animator & Illustrator with a strong portfolio showcasing skills and creative abilities;
- Proficiency in using 2D animation software (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Spine 2D, Premiere) or 3D software (Maya, 3ds Max or Cascadeur);
- Understanding of game engines (Unreal Engine & Unity);
- Willing to accept critique and feedback on artwork throughout the design process, and maintaining a willingness to learn and grow;
- An excellent team player with good communication skills and ability to multi-tasking.
- Creative, well-organized and detail-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility, and able to work independently.
Nice to have:
- Experience in storyboard and animation production, strong drawing skills, creative sense in motion and animation skills;
- Understanding of interactive 3D simulation in virtual/augmented reality or generative AI would be an advantage;
- Equip with procedural modelling experience;
- Basic understanding of Biology/Animal Anatomy/Physiology/Lab Techniques.
