A Research Assistant (Level 5) provides technical and research assistance to the research project/team.

We are seeking an experienced research assistant with a background in Australian privacy law to provide support to a project which may continue until mid-2026 or beyond.

The successful applicant must have a firm understanding of Australian privacy law, backed by tertiary study and/or work experience in the area.

They will also have developed excellent legal research skills and legal writing skills through completion of a law degree (although candidates nearing completion of a law degree will also be considered).

The successful applicant must be well-organised, reliable, and responsive, and committed to producing outputs without the use of generative AI.

A person engaged is generally expected to have the following skills and experience:

• Completion of a degree.
• Prior experience supporting a research project.
• Strong level of computer literacy with strong skills in the use of Microsoft Office software and other applications or systems/databases.
