Research Assistant

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant in Professor Simon Draper’s group, within the Department of Paediatrics, working on the preclinical development of malaria vaccines and antibody therapeutics. The role will provide core support to the research group, in particular assisting with parasite culture, parasite neutralisation assays, automated platform management, IgG purification, and preparation of written reports for senior scientists.

You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division. The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology.

This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract for 18 months or until 31st October 2027, whichever is sooner, with the possibility to extend provided further external funding is available.

About you

We are looking for a motivated individual with a relevant degree in the area of biomedical science or a similar related field. You will be highly organised, have good interpersonal skills and be able to interact productively and collaboratively with other team members. Proven experience in a laboratory environment, good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.
