The Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka hereby announces
A CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
for the appointment of teachers to scientific-teaching positions and associates to associate positions in the scientific area of Biomedicine and Health
A.2. Scientific field: Basic Medical Sciences
a) one research assistant, scientific branch: human genetics, genomics and proteomics, at the Department of Medical Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka, full-time, for a fixed term until the return of the absent employee to work, and for a maximum period of six years.
Applicants to the call must meet the requirements prescribed by the National University, Scientific and Artistic Criteria of the National Council for Higher Education, Science and Technological Development (Official Gazette of the Republic of Croatia No. 42/2026 of 21 April 2026), as well as the Ordinance on Additional Requirements for the Appointment to Scientific-Teaching Positions in the Area of Biomedicine and Health of the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka.
II. Applicants for appointment to an associate position must enclose the following with their signed application:
- CV,
- certificate of grade point average or Diploma Supplement (for appointment to the research assistant position),
- copy of the diploma or certificate of completed study programme,
- medical fitness certificate issued by an authorised occupational health physician.
Applicants under items A.1. a), b), c) and d) must submit evidence of employment at the teaching base.
Applications may be submitted by persons of both sexes (Article 13(2) of the Gender Equality Act, Official Gazette of the Republic of Croatia Nos. 82/08, 69/17).
By applying to this call, applicants consent to the collection and processing of all their personal data contained in the application documents for the purpose of conducting the application process, in accordance with the regulations governing the protection of personal data.
Applicants entitled to priority employment under special regulations must indicate this right in their application and enclose all evidence required by the special regulations proving their eligibility for exercising such right. Such applicants shall receive priority in employment compared to other applicants only under equal conditions. Applicants entitled to priority employment under the Act on Croatian Homeland War Veterans and Their Family Members and the Act on Civilian Homeland War Victims must indicate this right in their application and enclose evidence proving that they meet the prescribed requirements.
Applicants whose mother tongue is not Croatian must submit proof of Croatian language proficiency (B2 level) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Applicants who completed their education outside the Republic of Croatia must submit an opinion of the competent authority on the recognition of a foreign professional qualification or proof that the recognition procedure has been initiated.
Prior to making a decision, the Faculty reserves the right to verify applicants' knowledge and skills through testing and/or interviews of those who submit a timely and complete application and meet the formal requirements. Applicants shall be notified in due time of the testing and/or interviews. If an applicant fails to attend the testing and/or interview, they shall be considered to have withdrawn their application. The Faculty reserves the right to partially or fully annul the call for applications and not appoint any applicant, without providing specific justification.
The deadline for submitting applications is 30 days from the date of publication of the call for applications. Applications shall be submitted by e-mail to pisarnica@medri.uniri.hr.
Late and incomplete applications shall not be taken into consideration.
