We have an opportunity for a Research Assistant to join our team in the School of Cancer Sciences.
This fully funded Research Assistant position is available in the laboratory of Dr Andrew Davidson as part of a recently awarded Wellcome CDA.
You will contribute to projects on understanding how cell death contributes to tumourigenesis using Drosophila combined with live-imaging. As part of this project, the candidate will be working on:
- Labelling and live-imaging distinct types of cell death within the optically translucent lifestages of Drosophila (embryo and pupa).
- High resolution, live, confocal imaging of cell death in vivo.
- Exploring the role of mitochondria in regulating different forms of in vivo cell death by combining Drosophila’s genetics with live-imaging.
The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.
Informal enquiries should be directed to Dr. Andrew Davidson, Andrew.Davidson@glasgow.ac.uk
