Research Associate / Assistant Research Professor (Fixed Term)

Research Associate / Assistant Research Professor (Fixed Term)

Join us at the world-leading CRUK Cambridge Institute. We're a unique department of the University of Cambridge, core funded by Cancer Research UK's charitable activities, and we're seeking to appoint our new Assistant Research Professor or Research Associate. Appointments to either position will be made based on experience, as outlined in the person specification.

The de la Roche lab is actively recruiting a highly talented and motivated scientist to join their team in studying the Hedgehog signalling pathway in immune cell development and function. Working on cells of the innate and adaptive immune system we aim to understand the systemic and local regulatory mechanisms underpinning an effective immune response. We complement our in vivo and in vitro approaches with the analysis of human tissues from our clinical research study at Addenbrookes Hospital. Our long-term goal is to boost immune functions in patients suffering from cancer, infection and autoimmune disease.

As a postdoctoral researcher in the group, you will drive your research project and establish novel in vivo and in vitro models to assess the role of the Hedgehog pathway and downstream mechanisms in the cells of the immune system using cutting edge genomic and proteomics approaches.

Candidates must have experience in flow cytometry, functional assay development and execution, mouse models, and bioinformatics. Applicants who wish to be considered must display the ability to undertake project management, method development, data collection and analysis and have experience with human samples.

You must have excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to develop innovative experimental approaches to answer research questions and thrive both in independent research and while working collaboratively as part of a team.

The successful candidate must have a PhD in Biological Sciences, ideally with postdoctoral experience and a background in cancer and/or immunology.

Applications are welcome from internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.

Any offers made at Assistant Research Professor level will be conditional upon formal signoff by the School of Clinical Medicine’s Faculty Board.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.
