Research Associate
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to join our dynamic team and assistant PI to investigate the mechanisms of cancer and other diseases, with a particular focus on protein folding and dynamics, protein-protein interactions, and intrinsically disordered proteins. The successful candidate will also contribute to the screening and development of small molecules including covalent and non-covalent inhibitors, proteolysis-targeting chimeras (PROTACs), molecular glue degraders (MGDs), and other novel degraders and modulators for the treatment of cancer, vascular diseases, autoimmune disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Experiments
Conduct experiments and analyze results of experiments including experiments in molecular biology and biochemistry. Conduct proteomics studies to assess degrader specificity and identify small-molecule binding proteins. Conduct CRISPR gene editing to study mechanisms and support drug development efforts
Laboratory Maintenance
Responsible for keeping the laboratory and equipment functional; Coordinate daily operation and cleanliness of the laboratory. Prepare/update of biosafety and chemical protocols. Maintain laboratory record keeping, laboratory supplies inventory and frozen stocks of cell cultures.
Production
Produce recombinant proteins and study protein folding and dynamics, protein-protein interactions, and intrinsically disordered proteins.
Project Planning
Participate in project planning and development of research protocols
Inventory
Place orders, determine need for new supplies and equipment, maintain computer database/dataset and hard copies for inventory and equipment service records.
Other duties
Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research.
OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience.

Preferred Experience
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in two or more of the following areas: molecular biology, cell biology, proteomics, CRISPR gene editing, or drug screening.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Band: B8
Salary Range: $45,400/annually - $56,700/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
