Research Associate

Are you someone with experience of researching children’s outdoor environments who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary context? We have an exciting, short term opportunity for you to join us to work in the School of Architecture and Landscape on the final output of an interdisciplinary project entitled Negotiating Childhoods Around the Pacific Rim: A Multi-Generational Analysis. This is an international, multidisciplinary (Landscape, Planning and Geography) team working in the Pacific Rim countries of New Zealand, Samoa, Indonesia, Vietnam and China where in-country researchers have worked with three generations of families to develop an understanding of changing childhoods and the influences on these across the generations.

You will play a key role to support the completion of this project within the School of Architecture and Landscape, working with Professor Helen Woolley, the Head of School. The position will help with the final output of a book and you will contribute to literature reviewing, data analysis, and writing and preparing graphics for at least two book chapters. There is an option to work either full time or on a part time contract (minimum 0.6FTE) for a fixed period of time.

Educated to PhD level, you will have experience of undertaking literature reviews in a field associated with the project, analysis of data, strong academic written communication skills and proven expertise in graphic presentation. If you are passionate about childhood and children’s environments, then we would love to hear from you.

You will benefit from being a member of a research group in a School which is consistently ranked in the top 5 in the Built Environment Unit of Assessment of the UK’s Research Excellence Framework (REF). The position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to benefit from a supportive Early Career Researcher community as well as to engage in research events within the School.
