Research Associate in Quantum Photonics (Fixed Term)

Research Associate in Quantum Photonics (Fixed Term)

The Research Associate will join the Integrated Quantum Photonics group, based in the Nanoscience Centre at the University of Cambridge, a research group that works on simulation, nanofabrication and optical characterisation of nano- and quantum photonic devices, integrating quantum light emitters.

They will support teaching, supervision and research on photonic devices within the group.

The key responsibilities and duties are:

  1. Support data acquisition and analysis in quantum photonics and device technology;
  2. Write methodology and guidelines for students and early career researchers, for quantum technology experimental studies;
  3. Help with Master/PhD student supervision and teaching activities in quantum photonics, communication and computing.

The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are:

  • Education and qualifications:
    Applicants must have a PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering or related areas.
  • Specialist knowledge and skills:
    Quantum photonics, quantum optics, nano-photonics.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills:
    Very good interpersonal and communication skills, including writing scientific manuscripts and delivering presentations.
  • Relevant experience:
    Experience in spectroscopy, data analysis, supervision and teaching.

Salary Range:
Research Associate: GBP 37,694 - GBP 46,049

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 October 2026 in the first instance.
