Research Associate in Translational Biomaterials

We are looking for an experienced and motivated biomaterials scientist who is interested in the clinical translation of medical technologies to the clinic. The candidate should have PhD in Biomaterials or Biomedical Engineering with experience of polymer synthesis and fabrication (or equivalent experience). This project will refine and optimise the formulation, manufacturing and processing of an established biomaterial to support the translation of the innovation from lab to surgery.

The candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with academics, surgeons and the technology transfer office as the project moves towards commercialisation. The candidate will also have the option to learn more about medical device regulation, pre-clinical testing and will have the chance to develop their entrepreneurial skills.

Ultimately aimed at improving the lives of those with burns and serious disfigurement this project will primarily focus on overcoming the technical challenges associated with clinical translation of biomaterials such as regulation, scale up and sterilisation.

This short (7 month) project requires an independent and organised individual who enjoys the challenge of technical problem solving.
