Research Associate- MCG-Immunology Center of GA
Job Summary
Performs laboratory work related to studies in cancer and heart disease. Maintains research database, communicates well with other laboratory members, and works well as part of a team. Assists with ordering supplies and maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:
- Design and perform a variety of examinations of specimens for the presence of diseases and pathological conditions; prepare culture media, incubate and culture bacteria, stain slides, perform molecular biology techniques, electrophoresis, and work with experimental animals.
- Supervise junior members in the lab.
- Assist PI for writing publications and grant applications.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by P.I.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science, or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research.
OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years of research basic science, or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous supervisory experience.

SKILLS
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, multi-tasking, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines despite often interruptions, keep accurate records and make independent decisions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary: $45,400-$55,000 annually.
Pay Band: B8
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
This position is funded through external sources. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds.
