Job Summary
We invite outstanding and highly motivated individuals to explore novel functional roles of lymphatic vasculature and immune cells with us. You will play a critical role in coordinating and conducting imaging, histology, cell and molecular biology experiments (including material preparation and documentation), maintaining the laboratory, ordering, and organization. In close collaboration with a senior lab member, the successful candidate will undertake a research project that contributes to our broader mission. Additionally, the position includes assisting with mouse colony, laboratory upkeep, and offers the opportunity to acquire fundamental laboratory techniques in the field of immunology and vascular biology.
As a team-oriented basic research group, we aim to understand the homeostatic and pathogenic roles of lymphatic and immune responses in the context of chronic inflammation. Our interdisciplinary team of experts uses cutting-edge techniques to unravel the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying these interactions, with the goal of developing novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for these devastating diseases. As a member of our dynamic and interdisciplinary team, you will work alongside supportive mentors and supervisors who will guide you in your exploration of these complex systems.
Responsibilities
Assist with research studies, experiments, and assays, including collection, preparation, evaluation, verification and set-up of biological samples, data analysis and data files storage. Prepare tissue cultures, reagents, and maintain inventory of chemicals, supplies and stock solutions for use in the laboratory.
Manage and assist with animal colonies including genotyping and breeding.
Assist with ordering supplies and maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment and supervise junior members in the lab.
Operate and maintain equipment for microscopy, histology, flow cytometry, protein and mRNA analysis, as well as small animal procedures. Comply with established safety procedures. Assist with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research.
OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and other computer software/databases.
SKILLS
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, multi-tasking, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions, maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records and make independent decisions.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary Minimum: $45,400 annually
Pay Band: B8
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
This position is (fully/partially) funded through external sources. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds.
