Research Associate (Part-Time)
The Research Associate will support two related research initiatives housed with the NYU Institute of Human Development and Social Change (IHDSC) that examine education systems, caregiver and educator well-being, and the dissemination of education research to policy and public audiences.
The first project, What Makes Education Research Visible?, is a meta-study analyzing which methodological, structural, and equity-related features of peer-reviewed education research predict dissemination in policy-facing and mainstream media outlets. This project builds on prior funded work and uses structured coding and quantitative analysis to examine dissemination patterns across approximately 800 education studies.
The second project, Small Moments in Early Childhood Education, is a research-practice partnership focused on early childhood educators' well-being and teacher-child relationships. The study examines how brief, unscripted interactions ("small moments") shape relational practice and educator experience in Head Start and community-based early childhood settings serving low-income and immigrant familmies.
The Research Associate will work closely with the Principal Investigator and research collaborators to support study coordination, data management, qualitative and quantitative analysis, research translation, and supervision of research assistants across both projects. This is a part-time position averaging approximately 27 hours per week. The position is remote, with occasional virtual meetings with research partners.
