Research Associate - Pharmacology & Toxicology
Job Summary
The duties include, but are not limited to, planning, performing, and analyzing experiments, writing manuscripts and presenting results; general laboratory management, including ordering supplies, animals, and reagents and maintaining inventories. This individual will be responsible for laboratory techniques in cell and molecular biology. The position requires specialized education in biomedical sciences and involves the exercise of discretion and judgment in the planning and conduct of experiments.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Molecular and cell biology experiments. Small animal surgeries.
- Record and analyze results of experiments and procedures using manual or computer techniques and, if necessary, develop special computer programs to facilitate analysis.
- Present his/her project in lab meetings and scientific meetings; writing and publishing manuscript; writing grant applications.
- Training lab personnel.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research. OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior research experience and/or knowledge in the field of cell signaling and/or vascular biology. Previous experience in cell imaging using confocal microscopy and handling mice is strongly preferred although not required. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Biological or Chemical Sciences and/or extensive previous work experience that includes Molecular Biology, cell culture, protein analysis, biochemical and immunohistochemical techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases or willingness to learn. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to complete work and meet deadlines. Willingness and ability to work with research animals. Ability to work independently with only general supervision.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required). Salary Minimum: $45,400 annually. Pay Band: B8. Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position. Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
