This post is full time, and has funding for up to 14 months.

We are seeking a Research Associate to make a leading contribution to the GALLANT programme (https://www.gla.ac.uk/gallant) through the project “Simultaneous carbon sequestration and pollution remediation”, working with Prof Caroline Gauchotte-Lindsay, Prof Cise Unluer at the University of Manchester, Dr Adrian Bass, and Dr John MacDonald, and in collaboration with over 50 researchers from across our Schools, Colleges, and Institutes, as well as 29 key programme partners from a variety of public bodies, community groups and businesses.

The primary aim of this research project is to remediate land, restore ecological function and decrease habitat fragmentation across Glasgow by concurrently sequestering CO2 and immobilising or mineralising contaminants on derelict and vacant lands through chemical carbonation and microbially-induced carbonate precipitation. The post holder will be joining in the later stages of the project and will be expected to support the delivery of a on site pilot experiment.
