Research Associate (TERM LIMITED)
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join onWHARD (Women's Health And Reproductive Disparities Collaborative) team with the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department. This term-limited role offers an exciting opportunity to engage with research supporting women's health, fibroids, and health equity, while also focusing on scientific communication and manuscript development. The successful candidate will support research initiatives and contribute to manuscript and abstract writing, editing, and content generation tasks in collaboration with the Director of Communications, faculty and research team members.
Content and Research Development:
- Assist in preparing sections of scientific manuscripts, technical reports, and communications.
- Develop and write research project protocols and related study materials.
- Edit or draft sections of grant application materials and presentations.
Literature and Data Management:
- Conduct literature searches and compile data to support manuscript development.
- Assist in qualitative and quantitative data management.
- Identify and track journals and manuscripts for publication of Women's Health related publications.
- Identify and track conferences to present work via abstracts, posters, oral, etc.
Document Editing:
- Edit and refine scientific manuscripts and reports to ensure quality and consistency.
- Maintain adherence to journal guidelines and ethical research principles.
Communication and Coordination:
- Translate complex scientific themes into accessible language for diverse audiences.
- Develop newsletters and update project materials for dissemination.
- Maintain and update project website content.
Research Support:
- Support basic research tasks like data organization and transcription.
- Assist in scheduling meetings and managing cloud-based resources.
Team Collaboration:
- Work cooperatively in a diverse team environment.
- Support during team events and community engagement activities including traveling to sites for data dissemination, recruitment, and other engagement efforts.
- Collaborate with multiple project investigators, community members, and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in English, Health Communication, Sciences, Technical Communication, Health or Social Sciences, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- At least 3 years of directly related experience required, ideally related to content generation for research, scientific areas.
- Experience in research and data interpretation.
- Demonstrated writing and editing skills in scientific, technical and academic contexts.
- Strong interest in women's health and disparities-related topics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with research-related software tools including CANVA, Adobe Illustrator, or others.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with qualitative research concepts and methods.
- Proficient Spanish language skills for developing materials and conducting interviews.
- Experience with reference management systems and cloud collaboration tools.
- Passion to engage in meaningful research and contribute to advancing knowledge in Women's Health.
This is a 1-year term-limited appointment with the possibility of extension for an additional year. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.
