"Research Technician IV"

Overview

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington. The Thomas lab in the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division is seeking a Research Technician IV to work on research projects. Work will include analysis of human samples from numerous infection and oncology cohorts. Cellular and molecular techniques will be integrated for high resolution profiling of immune responses.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform experiments using existing, modified, or newly developed techniques/protocols.
• Set up protocols using new or modified laboratory techniques and troubleshoot experiments independently.
• Identify experimental data pertinent to the analysis problem; process, organize, and summarize data; report results.
• Assist in the drafting and editing of manuscripts, posters, SOPs, and policies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the field and related techniques.
• Provide ongoing support for monitoring, maintenance, ordering, and purchasing of equipment and supplies as needed.
• Independently perform calibration of instruments and equipment as necessary.
• Expected to routinely provide guidance and training to less-experienced team members and may also train others outside lab in relevant techniques.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience; 8 years of related work experience (or equivalent combination of advanced degree and work experience); Proven ability and knowledge necessary to conduct research independently. The annual base salary range for this position is from $78,894 to $118,310, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
