Your next career opportunity

As a Research Grants Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting academics across the University by managing post-award administration of research funding. You will liaise with diverse stakeholders, including external funders and University staff, to develop efficient workflows and provide high-quality advice. This role offers you the chance to exercise independence, utilise your judgement, and contribute to the University’s research success.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Review and Negotiate Agreements: Analyse, advise on, and finalise research and commercial engagement agreements, seeking legal advice when necessary.
  • Build Strong Relationships: Cultivate productive working relationships with researchers, RIC staff, and external customers to ensure smooth business operations.
  • Provide Contract Support: Process contracts, report on their status, and support team members as required. This includes maintaining data and records, which are critical to reporting on the University’s academic performance.
  • Mentor Non-legal Staff: Supervise, mentor and/or support and/or provide training to members of the Grants teams, contributing to their skill development.

You will be a proactive and service-oriented professional with a law degree or relevant experience in contract management, demonstrating excellent communication and problem-solving skills in a collaborative environment.

  • Have a law degree or significant experience in drafting and negotiating contracts.
  • Possess a strong understanding of contract law and commercial contracting.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Apply initiative, judgement, and problem-solving skills to commercial contracting issues.
  • Exhibit well-developed time management and organisational skills.
  • Thrive in team environments, supporting colleagues on various projects.
