Research Grants Officer

About the Role

The Research Grants and Contracts team within Research Services plays a critical role in delivering this program of work, with responsibility for the end-to-end management and administration of all research grant and contract activities. The team comprises three specialist units: Research Grants, Research and Industry Contracts, and Strategic Bids. This position sits within the Research Grants unit and reports accordingly.

The Research Grants Officer provides efficient and effective administrative support for the development, review, and submission of research grant proposals. The role also contributes to the coordination of seminars and information sessions on grant opportunities, liaises with other areas of University administration regarding grant submissions, and maintains accurate data entry within research management systems.

This position requires a strong customer-focused approach to service delivery, the ability to exercise initiative in managing complex matters, and highly developed organisational skills.

We have two Research Grants Officer opportunities.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination, administration and support preferably in research grants administration or other complex funding program's role.
  • Experience in developing, reviewing and coordinating national competitive grant schemes submissions in a tertiary institution, research institute or funding agency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to draft correspondence and information guides.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with proven ability to ensure effective completion of tasks within deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective networks, develop collaborations and partnerships with a wide range of external partners.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and cooperatively in a team environment, to follow through on tasks to completion with minimal supervision, and to seek advice and escalate matters, when required.
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, energy and self-motivation with a flexible, outcomes and solutions-oriented attitude and approach.
  • High level of competency in the use of standard office packages. Expertise in record maintenance and database management including the ability to develop meaningful reports.
