The position will be involved in research under the supervision of Dr. Robert Warren, the principal investigator of the Surgical Oncology Research Lab. The incumbent will conduct research related to the growth of organoids as models for studying targeted therapeutics against gastrointestinal system cancers in humans performed by others in the Warren Lab.
He/she will be responsible for maintaining the database for our large tissue bank, which comprises both primary and metastatic liver tumors. This involves searching the electronic medical records of patients who have contributed tumor and non-tumorous tissue to our clinical/translational studies (APEX).
As molecular analyses of patient tumors, organoids, and patient-derived xenografts are carried out, the candidate will correlate those data with clinical outcomes using varying endpoints, applying appropriate statistical analyses.
The candidate will present their data in lab meetings, assist in writing manuscripts, and modify fields within the tissue/tumor database as new molecular analyses are developed. Familiarity with FileMaker Pro would be a plus. Experience using APEX will be important, as will prior knowledge of the components and methods of tissue storage in the Tumor Bank.
This position will be remote.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $34.48 - $74.04 (Hourly Rate).
