Research Development Professional III, AEGIS Consortium (College of Medicine-Phoenix)
Position Highlights
The Research Development Professional III will be responsible for all administrative and scientific management of the various Research Strategic Initiatives at the College of Medicine-Phoenix under the direction of Dr. Janko Nikolich. Specific tasks will include (and not be limited to) organization of intramural and extramural meetings, helping identify joint interests between the college, U of A, and extramural investigators, government, non-profit, and for-profit industry entities, and helping them draft, submit, and administer grants, supervision of research staff, and development of research infrastructure.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the administrative and strategic coordination of high-priority research initiatives in collaboration with initiative leadership.
- Serve as a central point of integration across faculty, staff, and external partners to advance shared research goals.
- Translate initiative priorities into actionable plans, timelines, and deliverables.
- Prepare briefings, summaries, and reports for internal and external audiences.
- Identify and cultivate collaborative research opportunities across the university and with external academic, government, nonprofit, and industry partners.
- Lead and support the preparation, submission, and management of extramural funding applications.
- Draft and edit grant materials, progress reports, and supporting documentation.
- Provide guidance on proposal strategy, sponsor expectations, and submission processes.
- May supervise and coordinate the work activities of research support staff supporting assigned initiatives, providing guidance on task priorities and project deliverables to ensure alignment with program objectives.
- Contribute to the recruitment of research and tenure-track faculty by assisting with position development, search coordination, and candidate evaluation.
- Advise research teams on clinical research workflows, protocols, and implementation considerations.
- Foster an environment that supports collaboration, efficiency, and research excellence.
- Support short- and long-term planning efforts to strengthen research programs and infrastructure.
- Contribute to the development of systems, processes, and resources that enhance research productivity and sustainability.
- Partner with initiative leadership to assess gaps and opportunities in research capacity.
- Contribute to aligning institutional strengths with emerging scientific and funding priorities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through clear, professional written and verbal communication with different groups and individuals, both internal and external to University of Arizona.
- Ability to handle multiple competing deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a related field.
- M.Sc. or PhD in a related field.
- At least two years of graduate education.
- At least three years of experience in project management.
