Job Description

Entry-level Embedded Electrical Engineering position for UAB's Engineering and Innovative Technology Development (EITD) group. Assist in the electrical design, development, manufacture, maintenance, sustainment, and operational support of embedded payload systems for space applications. Develop system-level documents and electrical drawings for complex engineering hardware and devices.

Engineering and Innovative Technology Development (EITD) was created to support the development of specialized research instruments for ground and microgravity-based research experiments. Since 1990, we have grown into a full-service organization, providing customers with a range of solutions from technical guidance to complete turn-key systems and services from concept through fabrication, deployment, and operational support. Our engineers are experienced in design, development, and commercialization of innovative hardware and software systems for the aeronautic and life sciences industry. As one of the nation's leading developers in cold stowage hardware for use in microgravity and exploration, our expertise covers mechanical, electrical, and software design, fabrication, assembly, test, and sustainment; as well as, systems engineering, safety and verification documentation / closeout, crew training, launch site support, mission operations, and recovery.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assists in design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.
  • Support meetings, teleconferences, and travel as required by projects.
  • Reports to EITD Electrical Engineering Section Lead
  • Performs simple and routine engineering design tasks with standard techniques.
  • Assists more senior engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods and reports.

Salary Range:

$57,940 - $94,150

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering and one (1) year of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

  • Electrical Design experience using CAE software (Cadence OrCAD, SolidEdge/SolidWorks)
  • Electrical Engineering experience for embedded / integrated systems
  • Electrical/Electronics Fabrication and Assembly experience
  • Electrical Engineering experience for aerospace applications
  • SPICE Modeling and Analysis for embedded systems design
  • Microcontroller Programming/Prototyping Experience
