About This Opportunity
We are seeking a Research Fellow to join UQ’s School of Education and advance the Education & Economies research theme within the ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Futures, a transdisciplinary research initiative committed to addressing Indigenous intergenerational inequity through Indigenous-led knowledge development and innovation.
This theme explores education and economic participation across generations and community contexts, with a focus on enablers in urban, rural, remote, and regional economies. Projects aim to produce impactful research and engage policymakers to drive evidence-based, cross-sectoral reform, all grounded in Indigenous rights, excellence and self-determination.
You will work closely with Associate Professor Marnee Shay, Chief Investigators and Postdoctoral Fellows to develop research centred on Indigenous educational leadership and self-determination. Projects will be co-designed with Indigenous-led service providers and communities, informed by data from other ARC-IFC themes, and guided by relational Indigenous methodologies.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
- Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
- Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.
This is a research focused position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ’s Criteria for Academic Performance.
