The Centre for Cancer Genetic Epidemiology carries out research into inherited susceptibility to common cancers and conducts significant large-scale analyses both within the Centre and as part of ongoing collaborations.
The role of the Research Governance Coordinator is to work with study teams to support internal and external teams to co-ordinate the efficient running of the ethics and governance aspects of the specified research studies. The predominant focus of the work will be upholding regulatory compliance as directed by the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research, Human Tissue Authority (HTA), UK General Data Protection Regulation Act/Data Protection Act and the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
The Research Governance Coordinator will assist with a wide range of tasks to ensure that governance and ethics standards are maintained across CCGE Studies, primarily SEARCH, EMBRACE and EMBED.
The post-holder will support Human Tissue Authority audits and the management of Standard Operating Procedures and Policies. Providing advice to researchers and/or other staff with queries; assisting with ethics-related activities such as the review of protocols, information sheets/consent forms for studies and will submit substantial and minor amendments to the Research Ethics Committee and assisting with additional governance tasks related to running the studies. Assisting with the follow up of any incidents and supporting the application of any new electronic systems.
The funding for this post is available until 31 January 2027
This is a part-time position for 10% FTE (3.5 hours per week)
Location - Department of Public Health and Primary Care, Strangeways Research Laboratory, Worts Causeway, Cambridge CB1 (approx 2 miles south of city centre)
