Research Laboratory Technician (Trainee)

The post-holder will work on a project aimed at building an in vitro model of tumour metastatic seeding, to understand the environmental influences on tumour cell colonisation and new tumour growth. We are using a defined peptide hydrogel to precisely model tumour seeding with high optical clarity, to help us understand the precise cellular changes driving tumour progression through the metastatic bottleneck. The post-holder will help to develop this model, enabling detailed high-content analysis of dynamic tumour processes. This is a training post, designed to help equip the post-holder with key skills required for a career in cancer research.

About You

An undergraduate degree in a relevant subject (or equivalent experience) is desirable, and enthusiasm for cell biology and cancer research.

The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD) is organised into 6 separate Institutes, of which the Blizard Institute is one of the largest, with personnel of c400, financial turnover of c£50 million per annum; and research expenditure of over c£14 million per annum.
