Research Manager- MCG-Immunology Center of GA
Job Summary
Administrative accountability for leading, managing, developing, supervising, and evaluating all research personnel and supportive research staff. Manages and collaborates relationships with research staff to ensure professional and educational excellence in provision of quality research. Responsible for supervising, training, and evaluation of supportive research staff. Collaborates with Grants/Fiscal Managers and designees to develop and maintain a balanced budget.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:
- Provides daily oversight and administrative supervision of students, post-docs, and technicians in lab to ensure research experiments are followed according to protocol. Assists in development of new lab techniques and troubleshooting problems. Uses independent judgement in the daily operation of the lab to ensure safe and efficient use of resources. Monitors use of resources to ensure compliance with Federal guidelines and institutional protocols to include troubleshooting and maintenance of laboratory equipment, assessment of needed repairs, and/or replacements.
- Performs complex data analysis related to producing research results and preparing findings for future development in conjunction with lab personnel.
- Maintains supply inventory to ensure chemicals, lab supplies, and equipment are available and stored properly in accordance with regulations. Maintenance and creation of protocols for EH&S office, oversight of lab inspections, maintenance of chemical inventory database.
- Coordinates administrative and technical arrangements of animal models and maintains records related to use. Maintenance and creation of protocols for LAS; oversight of lab inspections.
- Aids in preparation of professional papers on research results in collaboration with the PI and laboratory personnel and assists PI with data preparation for grant applications and renewals.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. from an accredited college or university with a minimum of one year directly applicable experience; previous supervisory experience.
OR
Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of five years of progressive grant management, resources management, and quality assurance program development experience; previous supervisory experience.
OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of eight years of progressive grant management, resources management, and quality assurance program development experience; previous supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary: $63,300-$70,000 annually.
Pay Band: B12
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
