"Research Nurse - Blood Cancer Prevention (Fixed Term)"

Applications are invited for a Haematology Research Nurse to work with Professor George Vassiliou and a group of leading Haematologists and Research Scientists based at the University of Cambridge and Cambridge University Hospitals.

The role will be integral to a team driving a pioneering initiative funded by leading UK and USA leukaemia charities to establish a Specialist Centre of Research (SCOR) and Research Clinic for the prevention of blood cancers like acute myeloid leukaemia and myelodysplastic syndromes (see announcement here).

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with the drive and initiative to work across the diverse responsibilities of the role that will include supporting clinic patients, recruiting research participants, working closely with medical/surgical/nursing/research teams in Cambridge and interacting with haematology teams from other UK centres focusing on blood cancer prevention.

The post holder should be able to work well as part of a team but demonstrate independence and flexibility to help meet the responsibilities of the role. Experience in clinical research studies would be an advantage.

This is an integrated appointment between the University and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust ("NHS Trust"). You will therefore also be issued with an Honorary Contract with the NHS Trust. You should be aware that if your contract with the NHS Trust is terminated your employment with the University will be terminated, and vice versa.

Applicants must have a professional nursing qualification and experience in Haematology, Oncology, Medical Research or a related specialty.

Full-time or part-time: The post is best suited for someone working full time, but part-time working will be considered in discussion with candidates.

Fixed term: The funds for these posts are available until 31/1/2029 in the first instance, with possibility for extension.
