About the opportunity


We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Officer to join our dynamic team within the Children’s Hospital at Westmead Clinical School. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in conducting research studies, including data collection, analysing data, and disseminating findings to stakeholders. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects that shape public health policies and practices. Postgraduate students in public health, health sciences, nursing, medical, or allied health are encouraged to apply. You will have the opportunity to develop your research skills, undertake qualitative data analysis, and increase your capacity to write for publication. This project is investigating alternative vaccination methods through clinical studies with healthcare professionals and the general public in metropolitan Sydney (Westmead) and regional (Dubbo).

Your key responsibilities will be to

  • lead research projects
  • optimize grant management processes
  • drive the adoption of innovative research methodologies
  • oversee the comprehensive management of data
  • manage research documentation
  • nurture partnerships with internal and external stakeholders

About you

  • honours or Master’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, Epidemiology, Nursing, Psychology, Behavioural or Social Sciences or a related field
  • demonstrated ability to identify, analyse and solve problems to provide accurate and appropriate outcomes
  • excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • qualitative and quantitative analytical proficiency in analysis software (e.g., NVivo)
  • highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office
  • knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
  • ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
