In this senior role, you will lead end-to-end operations for pioneering diabetes technology clinical trials and research. You will shape strategy, partnerships and teams across St Vincent’s Hospital and the University of Melbourne. Your work will directly improve care and quality of life for people living with diabetes.

What you will deliver:

  • Lead strategic planning, budgeting and resource allocation for a portfolio of complex, multi-site diabetes clinical trials.
  • Oversee compliant study start-up, conduct and close-out, ensuring ethical, legal and regulatory standards are consistently met.
  • Manage, mentor and develop multidisciplinary research teams, embedding clear expectations, performance frameworks and supportive professional development.
  • Build and sustain high-value partnerships with clinicians, academics, industry, funders and community stakeholders across institutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in research operations, processes, documentation, data integrity and reporting to meet project milestones.

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in health, medical or related discipline, with substantial experience leading multidisciplinary research teams.
  • Bring extensive experience managing first-in-human and large multi-site clinical trials phases 0–4 with impeccable protocol compliance.
  • Demonstrate strong people leadership, setting clear expectations, managing performance and cultivating collaborative, high-performing research cultures.
  • Apply deep knowledge of ethical, legal and regulatory frameworks governing human research, specimens and clinical trial conduct.
  • Exhibit proven capability in strategic, operational and business planning, budget oversight and influencing executive-level decision making.
  • Thrive working autonomously in complex environments, juggling competing deadlines while exercising sound judgement and proactive problem-solving.

You will join the Department of Medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital, a key node of Melbourne Medical School. The Diabetes Technology Research Group leads clinical research integrating advanced devices with care for people living with diabetes. Working with clinicians, scientists and professional staff, you will collaborate across hospitals, universities and industry partners, including ACADI.
