Position Highlights
The Research Professional I will assist with project coordination for a large-scale research grant from the National Institutes of Health to examine the effectiveness and implementation of sleep health coaching in 20 fire agencies across Arizona. This position will assist and monitor study-related work completed by other members of the study team and monitor the progress of participants through the study protocol. This position will participate in the formulation of research methods, the collection and preparation of behavioral health data, and the dissemination of research results.

Duties & Responsibilities
Assists the PI with the project: This includes participating in the planning, designing and conduct of: collaborative recruitment and retention efforts with participating agencies and individuals; participant progress through the study; provision of subject fees and payments; data collection; and database management. Assists with the training, coordination, and progress of study-related work completed by other members of the study team. Communicates with the study principal investigator, co-investigators, other research staff, and study participants regarding research progress. Identifies and recommends solutions to identifiable problems. Adhere to the research protocol and regulatory guidelines.
Conducts components of the project according to plan: Participation in start-up and procedural activities (e.g., development and maintenance of a research procedures manual; a database on REDCAP; purchasing and oversight of study devices and software). Data collection and entry and preparation of data for analysis for research reports and literature review. Communicates with team members in Health Promotion Sciences, other departments, and external contacts. The research professional cross-trains on job functions with other research personnel (undergrad workers) to ensure adequate back-up. This position will assist with routine and technical administrative support consistent with fire agency intervention implementation plans. Collaborates on the dissemination of material and tracks and monitors dissemination efforts. This includes assistance with the preparation of reports of research results.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Superior oral and written communication skills. Attention to detail and consistency demonstrated by previous work or academic experience. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines. Experience working with human subjects, administering surveys or interviews. Proficiency with REDCAP. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Zoom. Knowledge of human subjects research requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in public health, psychology, social work, physiology or related are or study or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required. One year of relevant work experience required.
