Job Description

RESEARCH SCIENTIST 3Civil and Environmental Engineering-Masic Lab, to conduct experimental and theoretical research across multiple PI environments. This is a high-level technical position that focuses on highly specialized research functions. It will be critical in shaping the research group's long-term strategy and financial planning, advising the principal investigators on critical decisions, and taking responsibility for key aspects of the research portfolio. Responsibilities include initiating, formulating, directing, and supervising various research projects; managing internal and external collaborations to ensure the project's success; performing data analyses; overseeing data monitoring and ensuring data integrity and adherence to established protocols and procedures and critically reviewing and evaluating reports and analyses prepared by other researchers; making contributions to scholarly literature, including authoring and co-authoring research findings in peer-reviewed journals; preparing and presenting findings at meetings/seminars/research conferences; tracking project goals, preparing comprehensive progress reports, and developing grant proposal components in collaboration with administrative staff; mentoring graduate students, research staff, and visiting scholars; training personnel in advanced research techniques and methods and supervising undergraduate and graduate students, research staff, and visitors; developing and maintaining the integrity of lab protocols, policies, and procedures; participating on departmental and institutional committees, national scientific societies, and review groups; and performing other duties as assigned.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering or related field; at least seven years of experience in related research fields; ability to conduct independent research; a strong track record of original or collaborative scholarship; excellent presentation and communication skills, particularly when participating in high-profile conferences and invited talks.  PREFERRED: ability to secure funding and develop patent applications.  Job #24300
