Posting Description

RESEARCH SCIENTIST 3, CHUNG LAB, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory, is a pivotal role responsible for generating spatial transcriptomic and proteomic optical imaging data of human and non-human primate brains, utilizing the novel technology pipeline established by the Chung Lab, including tissue processing, molecular probe staining, and volumetric data acquisition using light sheet microscopes. Will be a direct contributor to a large NIH UM1 research center, entitled Center for Multi-scale Multi-Omic Human and Non-human Primate Atlas. The primary responsibilities of the research scientist are to independently conduct experiments and optimize various protocols to ensure successful and consistent results; work closely with the collaborating teams across the center to conduct necessary protocol validation experiments; work closely with the Principal Investigator and key personnel of the Center to meet the milestone timeline via routine updates meeting with Project Teams/Programs/Cores for the center; assist with preparation of progress reports for funded research projects; ensure timely data generation and experimental research progress; and independently conduct and lead experiments to meet the requirement of overall center goals with assistance from junior research staff.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, biology, chemistry, or related scientific field; a minimum of five years of experience working in a large research laboratory; strong technical/scientific writing skills; experience with research/grant proposal development, writing and editing; publications record in reputable journals; and supervisory experience. PREFERRED: experience with or willingness to learn new laboratory management software.
