Research Scientist (Alberini Lab)
Description
Applications are invited for experienced research scientist position in the lab of Dr. Cristina Alberini, in the Center for Neural Science at New York University. The candidate will focus on the identification of molecular and cell biological mechanisms underlying learning-dependent protein metabolism homeostasis regulation. The regulation of protein metabolism is critical for the formation of long-term memories and is altered in several brain diseases, including neurodevelopmental disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. The project will aim to identify novel relevant mechanisms both in healthy brains and in disease.
One particular disease that we are focusing on is Angelman syndrome for which we aim to identify neural alterations, biomarkers and therapeutics. The project will employ rodent and/or human systems (iPSC and human brain samples) and multi-level technical approaches to address questions at the molecular, cellular, bioinformatic, and behavioral levels.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Qualifications
A PhD in Neuroscience, Biology or associated area is preferred. Extensive experience in molecular and cell culture techniques and animal behavior is strongly preferred.
