Research Scientist II

Position Summary:

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey has opening for Research Scientist II at the Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies located in New Brunswick, NJ. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator of the Center for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco (CRST), this position will assist in the design and conduct of specialized tobacco research, using judgement to adapt methods and techniques. The Research Scientist II is responsible for research studies, including design, analysis, and reporting. The position may oversee the work of student research assistants.

• Serves as Project Lead or senior research staff on tobacco and nicotine-related research studies, supporting the CRST PI with the design, development, and implementation of research protocols, followed by appropriate reports, recommendations and conclusions.
• Independently conducts advanced quantitative and qualitative data analyses using large, complex datasets related to tobacco use, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and appropriate interpretation of findings.
• Coordinates and oversees data management activities, including development and implementation of data quality assurance and control procedures to ensure integrity and reliability of study data, including large-scale commercial sales and market surveillance datasets.
• Designs, coordinates, and executes specialized research activities for ad hoc CRST research project.
